Nike Continues To Pick Apparel Fights

Nike Continues To Pick Apparel Fights

Fresh on the heels of the Marcus Jordan controversy, it seems like Nike is back at it again with apparel competitors.  On November 14, Maryland, Under Armour's founding school, will honor military veterans with their Under Armour Wounded Warrior Project.  It is a nice change up for veterans day, and looks pretty badass.

So one week later, when Under Armour's flagship comes to Tallahassee, Florida State will be waiting for the Terps in their prettiest evening wear.  By prettiest evening wear, I mean Nike Pro Combat gear - arguably some of the most advanced football apparel available to college athletes.

Normally, fresh alternates are unveiled for games of heavy importance in order to inspire the team and the fans.  While an argument could be made for the fact that Florida State may be playing for a shot at bowl eligibility, the Florida State - Maryland game certainly lacks the gravitas that would merit brand new uniforms.

Nothing would make Nike happier than to see the Seminoles light up Maryland donning the brand new technology from the Goliath of sports apparel.

Disagree? Check out the description and photos from Seminoles.com below, tell me that Nike isn't trying to make headlines with this garb.

The Nike Pro Combat uniform is 37 percent lighter than current designs (23.7 ounces vs. 37.4 ounces). Nike utilized a four-way stretch twill that does not hold sweat or water and as a result, the new uniforms are 46 percent lighter than the current designs when wet. Overall, the Nike Pro Combat uniform, when wet, is still lighter than the current Florida State design when completely dry.
