ECU Hosting 'Pirate-Out' Coming Out Party in G-Vegas Tonight!
Tonight, you will likely tune into the Virginia Tech - East Carolina football game on ESPN. Sure, there's 30 Rock and the Office and Always Sunny and Community and Parks and Recreation ... okay, you know what? You probably won't be watching a toppled ACC powerhouse beat up on a erstwhile FBS team. But you should.
Yes, that's right -- you want to watch this game. And no, it's not because of Erin Andrews sideline prowess or Jesse Palmer's chiseled hair in the announcing booth. It's because the students of East Carolina -- AT THE DIRECTION OF THEIR ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT, NO LESS -- are going to be dressing up as pirates in the world's first (and hopefully not last) "Pirate Out."

Update: Spencer Hall's G-Vegas sources rumored that the ECU football field was rocking the turf version of flames on your wheelbase. The best damn ECU Pirate blog on the planet confirms.
Athletic Department Challenge to Pirate Nation.
"The Pirate Out initiative for the Thursday night game with Virginia Tech was organized by members of the Pirate Nation and will show the country why we feel we have the most passionate fans in college football."
Terry Holland
Now, Terry Holland is an awesome guy and a first-rate AD and someone I wish NC State was smart enough to hire ... but how the hell could he possibly let this happen on his watch????
This isn't a "black-out" (cool almost in any occasion for night games), nor a "white-out" (almost always lame as mess and never pulled off correctly anyway). This is a goddamn'd PIRATE-OUT. And yeah, it's embarrassing as hell if you're a member of "Pirate Nation" or one of the 4,096 (!!!) confirmed folks on the Facebook group who will be donning an eye patch and bringing a sword and who the hell else knows what to the game tonight.
But, then again, I suppose if you're one of us non-freakshows, it's okay, because we suddenly have a reason to tune in and see an entire fanbase collectively embarrass itself on national television.
