Tate Forcier, Mr. Internet Dreamcakes

Tate Forcier, Mr. Internet Dreamcakes

Fame: it's a cruel, intoxicating bitch. I should know; I write on Internet every day, and Internet has over a thousand readers. Sounds crazy, but it's true.

Proof: according to the Detroit Free Press, Michigan wunderquarterbacken Tate Forcier became very, very popular on said Internet and other 21st century methods of communication:

Not long after Forcier, Michigan's freshman quarterback, directed the Wolverines' to a winning touchdown with 11 seconds left in a 38-34 upset of Notre Dame Saturday, all forms of his electronic communication went berserk.

Immediately after the win that launched Michigan to No. 25 in the AP Poll, Forcier said he had 417 text messages on his cell phone. (For the record, he had 318 after leading the Wolverines to a season-opening win against Western Michigan in his first start).

Forcier also had 88 missed calls.

And on Sunday when he signed into his Facebook account, there were 1,600 friend requests. (For the record, he went through the requests one by one).

Sure, going through 1,600 requests seems like an arduous task, to say the least, but Forcier had a system: no to dudes, yes to chicks, but no uggos, because come on, gross. Yes, they need love too, so they should go love each other. That's the rule of life.

Err, sorry, that was 20-year-old me talking again. Where were we? Ah yes, Forcier.

The young man's life doesn't project to be getting any worse within the near future; Michigan's next two games are against Eastern MIchigan and Indiana, and honestly, we don't know which team's worse. Sure, road dates with MSU and Iowa loom after that, and there's always that November date with that one school in Ohio... the Buckeyes, or something? Never heard of 'em.
